Upsilon Pi Epsilon

Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the computer science honor society at UC Berkeley. I spearheaded a brand-new redesign and reimplementation of the website, creating both the design and the development. The design was based off the group’s needs for areas customized to different levels of users: candidates, members, officers, and the general public. To make the site accessible to everyone, I adhered to XHTML and CSS standards. Although no formal evaluation had been done, all feedback we received had been positive and we since then raised more awareness of the organization: we have about 25 candidates this semester, more than double that of previous semesters (which had hovered around 10).

One major flaw I found in the iteration of this website is that the images do not convey a lot of meaning. I created the header’s abstract design, but, in retrospect, this area would be best served with photographs of the club’s members in action, to bring a more human face to the organization and connect with the audience.
